Not just cardboard
This isn't regular cardboard, this is special Scrappy Scraper cardboard. After countless tests, prototypes and cleans, we created our own proprietary triple-weave construction that's strong and rigid enough to clean even the most stubborn grill.

Impact your BBQ, not the planet.
Scrappy Scraper’s power lies in the surprising genius of cardboard. It’s rigid enough to scrape, flexible enough to bend to your grates, and absorbent enough for deep cleaning and seasoning. We harnessed the strengths of a simple material to create a powerful tool that’s effective, healthy, and, being 100% recyclable, kind to the planet.

Have questions? We've got answers.

Scrape
Scrape grill with a Scrappy Scraper. Make sure to experiment with different angles, turn it sideways to clean the sides of the grates, and use black side down for stubborn bits.

Steam clean
Quickly dip in water (no need to soak, it breaks down the cardboard too much) and spread in a scraping motion. Watch the water steam clean and sanitize your grates.

Season
Dip scraper into vegetable oil (olive oil will burn because of it's lower heat index) and spread evenly to create a non-stick surface. This will help prevent food from sticking.
FAQs
Does it work?
Is cardboard strong enough?
Yes. It's strong enough to clean your grates. Is it designed to resuscitate a grill with a lifetime of grime and neglect? Probably not, but for everyday cleaning, it works wonders. Even though we chose the most rigid cardboard we could find, if you push down too hard, of course it will buckle. But one or two scrapes and you'll get the feel for how hard you can push.
How does it compare to a metal brush?
From a versatility and safety POV, it kicks metal brushes into next year. From a performance POV, it scrapes 96% as well. Only the really really caked on bits need more than steam cleaning to remove. Stay tune, we have something in the works to address the other 4%!
Can I make my own?
Well yes, and no. The idea was born when a cardboard paper towel tube was used instead of a missing brush so any cardboard works, but it doesn't have the rigidity to really get your BBQ clean. We spent many hours on R&D to find a cardboard that performed all the tasks we knew were important to you (and many others you didn't even know you wanted or needed).
Does bacteria burn off?
Absolutely, but it doesn't burn it off your brush.
You wouldn't clean your pans with a dirty scrubber, so why would you clean your BBQ with one? A clean scraper reduces the risk of food being contaminated.
Not everybody BBQs on an enclosed grill and the temperature isn't guaranteed to be sufficient. In addition, very few people measure the temperature of their meat before serving.
